Manas National Park is a top biodiversity hotspot region in the Eastern Himalayas belt and the place has recorded around 60 species of mammals, 470 species of birds, 42 species of retiles, 7 amphibian species, 54 fish species and 100 insect species. Apart from the fauna, Manas National Park has a diverse plant life and around 622 species of plants are recorded at the place of which there are 89 tree species, 49 shrubs, 37 under shrubs, 172 herbs, 36 climbers, 15 orchids, 18 ferns and 43 grass species to be found inside the forest reserves of Manas National Park.
